Today we will be focusing on one area where we feel all brides can strongly benefit from. When planning a wedding, you and your bridal party are having the greatest time sipping champagne, choosing your dream bridal gown, and enjoying each others company. So based on experience, here are Grand Lens Photography's thoughts on why a pre-bridal photo session is essential for every bride!
The comfort of knowing exactly how you will look in your wedding dress before the wedding
Often times we suggest that our brides have their hair and makeup trial scheduled on the day of their engagement photo session. While we still stand behind that suggestion (considering photographers will appreciate that your hair and makeup are professionally done for the engagement session), it is still challenging to imagine what you will look like while wearing your wedding dress. Knowing that your hair, makeup, dress, shoes, and accessories compliment each other renders a feeling of relief. It is like a dress rehearsal before the wedding day.
You will find areas of your dress that still need altering
When you go in for your dress fittings, you typically spend up to about 30 minutes in your wedding gown and majority of that time is spent standing in front of the mirror while your seamstress pins the tiny details & imperfections that she notices. It is a completely different experience being in your dress for about 3 hours. Be sure to move around in the dress, sit down, lay across the bed, and keep note of the different areas where the dress gathers incorrectly, or falls down a little, and tiny areas where the lace behaves strangely. Trust us - you will be extremely grateful that you still have a final fitting where you can address any issues. They will drive you insane on the day of your wedding, otherwise.
You can cross formal bridal portraits of the list
It is certain that you will feel relaxed and comfortable on the morning of your wedding knowing that the wedding photographer has already captured plenty of stunning portraits of you. Having a pre-bridal photo session minimizes the pressure regarding photos as you will have already gotten plenty of them out of the way. This is also a smart way to help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera since your photo will be taken from the start of the wedding day through to the end!
Change of scenery
More often than not, a bride and her bridal party get dressed in a hotel room or a petite bridal suite at the wedding venue and it may not always be a very glamorous background for photos. There are usually hair appliances, makeup bags, food wrappers, etc. cluttering the room. The pre-bridal photo shoot will give your photographer the opportunity to capture your photos in either a studio or a private outdoor setting that allows the photographer to control both the lighting and background.
Get creative during the session
We recommend that our brides set a moment aside with their father before he walks them down the aisle. This is the perfect time to give him a beautiful picture of you in your dress with a card expressing how important he is to you. You could do the same for your mother, grandparents, etc. This is a delightful way to share your feelings with that special person and create a charming keepsake for them to remember your wedding. This can also be arranged on the wedding day before the ceremony if you choose to have it so.
This photo session will help capture a time and a memory that you will never forget. Your photographer will create beautiful images that will mean the world to you, your soon-to-be husband, and your parents.
